The Rogue River Lodge at Snag Patch is committed to the environment and this commitment goes back to the choices made in it’s restoration as well as the on going decisions. Our stewardship of this land and respect for the river environs is deeply entwined with our love of nature and the belief we should leave a small footprint or none at all, use what we have or in this case, what was already here and be responsible. These are some of our efforts:
  • Reusing and recycling
  • Reusing an existing footprint for our buildings
  • Recycling of some existing wood materials
  • Recycled ocean claimed Port Orford Cedar
  • Building with local sustainable products
  • Charred Port Orford Cedar from the Biscuit fire 2004, milled on site
  • Building with sustainable materials not local:
    • Stone
    • Wood
    • Linoleum
    • Glass
  • Updating and upgrading electrical for max efficiency
  • Use of reduced wattage lighting
  • Use of biodegradable cleaning products
  • Drought tolerant native plantings
  • Drip irrigation
  • Daily recycling
  • Fighting for the health of our river and it’s endangered inhabitants
